COMAX FLAVORS TRAINING TO WILLS - July 6, 2009
Last July 6, 2009 was one of the highlights of the year for Wills International Sales Corporation. We had the pleasure of being visited by the President of Comax Flavors, Dr. John Cavallo. John, seasoned by experience in the global flavor industry, spent a few days to conduct an internal training for the sales team of Wills International at the Eurotel Hotel in Makati City.
Comax Flavors is a privately-held, family-owned company based in Melville, New York which prides itself in being a full-service flavor house as explained by John. This makes the company more flexible in terms of dealing with the requirements of their clients and making it more personalized. Focus areas include Aroma Chemicals, Beverage (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), Confections, Tobacco and Specialty Savory Ingredients of which John showed the team their activities both in the USA and in Shanghai, China wherein Comax has set up a facility to cater to the growing China market and will soon cater to Southeast Asia.
John also discussed that Comax was one of the pioneers to investigate on flavor modulators which led to the development of the Special Effect Flavors. The flavor line is composed of masking agents that address the off-notes produced by the use of tea, caffeine, artificial sweeteners, vitamins and other raw materials that promote Health & Wellness. With the growing global market trend on promoting healthy food products, Comax has already established itself in this area beforehand.
With the Comax battle cry – The Forefront of Flavors and the established presence of Wills International in the local food industry, the partnership surely strives to bring new and cutting edge flavors to the Philippines’ demanding food market.
